Sunderland- 2008-2011

2008/2009 Season

He joined the Sunderland’s youth team when he was just 8 years of age and signed a professional contract with them on the 1st of July, 2008.

In November 1, 2008, he came on as a half-time substitution in a 5-0 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League.

The next month, he made his Sunderland debut and made his first home start against Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup.

2009/2010 Season

Henderson made his debut for Sunderland in the 2009/10 season, playing 38 games and scoring two goals.

In the League Cup third round, he scored his first senior goal for the club.

On December 19, 2009, he scored his first Premier League goal in a game against Manchester City.
