Diogo Jota was born on the 4th of December 1996 in Porto, Portugal.

His parents names are Joaquim and Isabel Silva, and he has a younger brother named Andre. 

He experienced his childhood days in Massarelos and his parents encouraged and supported him due to his insatiable love for football.

He started playing football at the tender age of five.

Youth Career – 2014

Diogo Jota started his youth career at the youth academy of Gondomar at age nine and later on moved to Portuguese Primera Liga team F.C. Paços de Ferreira’s youth ranks in 2013.

He was later promoted to the first team squad after impressing his coaches at the club.

He later made his debut as Paços de Ferreira in 2014 and bagged goals for the team.

He made his senior team debut in the 2014-2015 season when he was promoted to the main squad and played at Taça de Portugal against Atletico S.C.

Jota scored his first goal in his professional debut against Academica de Coimbra in 2015 in game that ended 3-2 in the favour of his team.

Diogo Jota Career- 2016 – Atlético Madrid

After the expiration of his contract with Paços de Ferreira in 2016, he signed for Atlético Madrid, the then La Liga Champions under Diego Simeone.

2016/17 Season – Loan to FC Porto

Diogo Jota was loaned to Portugese Club, FC Porto scoring nine goalsn in 37 games across all competitions.

He scored his first Uefa Champions League goal against a Leicester City team in the same 2016/2017 season.

He made eight appearances for his side in the Champions league.

Diogo Jota bagged his first hat-trick in a 4-0 victory against C.D National in the Portuguese League

 

2017 Season

He played for Porto in just one season before Atlético Madrid loaned him to English Championship club, Wolverhampton Wonderers.

That was after his season long loan with FC Porto ended.

The then Porto head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo felt the need to bring him to Wolves alongside Ruben Neves.

We guess he was the brain behind the move from Porto.

His move really broke the hearts of the Porto fans who criticized him for moving to a lesser club than Porto, that is Wolves who were still in the Championship at that time.

Diogo had a remarkable season at the time scoring 17 goals in the season thereby helping his side gain promotion to the English Premier League after lifting the Championship trophy.

His long-term loan was made permanent in 2018, and he played two more successful seasons for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

 

2018-2019 season

He was able to score ten goals in the 2018/19 season

 

2019-2020 season

His goal tally increased in the following season, 2019/2020  in which he netted 16 goals in all competions.

He played for Wolves for three seasons netting an overall 44 goals across 144 appearances for the club.

In the 2019/20 season, he scored his second career hat-trick agaisnst Leicester city in the Premier League in a game that ended 4-3 in Wolves’ favor.

2020 Season

Diogo sealed a move to Premier League giants, Liverpool in the 2020 transfer season in a deal valued at £41 million.

He bagged 16 goals in as many as 67 appearances for Wolves before Liverpool snapped up his signature.

In his debut for the Club, under Jurgen Klopp, he scored his first goal.

He had a fantastic season, scoring seven goals in just ten opening games for the Club, a feat only achieved by Robbie Fowler prior to that moment.
