Yahoo Mail’s Connections list is your lifeline to often contacted friends and colleagues, but over time this list will gather contacts you no longer require. Consider deleting extraneous entries from your Contacts to declutter the list and make it easier to locate vital addresses. You must individually choose each contact you wish to delete, but you can delete all chosen entries at once.
Deleting Contacts
To view your contacts, log in to your Yahoo Mail account and click the “Contacts” icon. Check each box next to the entries you wish to eliminate. To select successive entries, click the first one, hold down the “Shift” key, and then click the final one. Click “Delete” to delete a single contact, or “Delete Contacts” to delete many contacts. Click “Delete” once more in the confirmation window to transfer the contacts to the Deleted Contacts folder, where they remain for approximately one month. However, you can reselect them, select “Delete Permanently,” and confirm your choice to clear the folder.
Running Into Problems
Check your Internet connection if you are unable to delete a contact; if it is bad, your delete command may not have been received to Yahoo servers. If you are certain that this is not the case, then you may have encountered a known Yahoo Contacts issue that, as of May 2014, Yahoo is “trying to fix as soon as feasible.” If that is not satisfactory, please contact the Yahoo Help staff (link in Resources).
