Match.com is an online dating service that was established twenty years ago. Based on the success of Tinder and other matchmaking apps in recent years, the practice of finding a partner or date online has become widespread. Numerous people have met their life partners on Match.com, and it appears that many more will do so in the future.
Eventually, you might no longer require or desire this type of service. This can happen because you may have found the love you’ve been seeking, or because it may not be your thing. Regardless of the reason, you’ll want to delete your Match.com account; here’s how.
Cancel Your Email Subscription
If you no longer require your match.com account, you should immediately deactivate your email subscription. This can be accomplished by locating the “unsubscribe” or “stop receiving emails” link in the most recent promotional email or website update sent to you.
You may also cancel your email subscription by visiting the Settings page on match.com and navigating to the Account Settings section. There should be a link to “cancel subscription” there.
Disable Your Account
If you wish to deactivate your account but maintain access to it should the need arise, you should disable it. Here’s a step-by-step guide to successfully disabling your match.com account.
- Go toĀ https://www.match.comĀ in your preferred web browser.
- Sign in by entering your email and password.
- Find theĀ ProfileĀ tab and click it.
- In the profile menu, click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner of your screen.
- In the account settings, youāll see theĀ Change/Cancel MembershipĀ Click it.
- You will be prompted to enter your password. Do it and click theĀ Continue Cancellation
- Next, youāll see theĀ Cancel Membership and Remove profileĀ Click it.
Following these steps, your match.com account will be deleted. You will receive a confirmation email, and your profile will no longer be visible to other users. Remember that you must cancel all subscriptions, especially paid ones, before deleting the account. The advantage of disabling your account as opposed to deleting it is that you can reactivate it by logging back in. If you disable your account and do not log in for two years, it will be deleted permanently.
Permanently Delete Your Account
If you never want your account to be accessible again, which is perfectly reasonable and acceptable, follow these steps. First, carefully consider whether you want to end your relationship with match.com. If you are confident, proceed to the following steps.
- Log into your account.
- Go toĀ My account settingsĀ section thatās accessible through clicking on your profile picture at the top right corner of any page on match.com.
- Go toĀ Manage my subscriptionsĀ if you have any and cancel them.
- Find theĀ Suspend your accountĀ at the bottom and click it.
- Now, confirm by clicking on theĀ To cancel your account.
Your profile will be deleted permanently within the next 24 hours if you do not attempt to log in or interact with match.com.
Having Trouble?
These social media removal pages can be pretty challenging. Additionally, some websites retain deleted accounts for considerably longer. The option to delete your Facebook account, for instance, is buried deep within the Settings menu. In addition, Facebook now retains deleted accounts for a full 30 days (formerly 15) before erasing them completely.
There is, however, always a way to permanently delete any social network account. Occasionally it may require effort, whereas other times it may be straightforward.
