Spotify Wrapped

Spotify Wrapped : what it is and how to view it

Spotify’s annual Spotify Wrapped list, a data-driven deep dive into — for better or worse — all the good, bad, and embarrassing music we’ve been blasting into our earholes over the past year, is a special time of year for many music lovers. If you’re an avid Spotify user, you’ve probably already received their teaser email about this year’s list, which typically arrives at the end of November or the beginning of December. But if you haven’t, don’t worry; we have all the information here.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

Since 2016, the music-streaming behemoth has released its year-end Wrapped roundups, providing users with entertaining and insightful information about the songs, albums, podcasts, genres, and artists they listened to from January 1 to October 31. Beyond what you’ve listened to personally, the Wrapped campaign also details the most listened-to and streamed content on the service as a whole throughout the year, providing social media fodder, bragging rights for artists, and more. You can access your Wrapped playlist on mobile devices, web browsers, and the Spotify desktop application. Additionally, Spotify Wrapped has inspired third-party sites to highlight your music listening in creative ways, such as Instafest, which displays your top artists as a fictitious festival lineup.

When is the Spotify Wrapped 2022 list revealed?

This year, Spotify Wrapped 2022 went out on November 30, but it has occasionally been released in the first week of December. If you’re a Spotify customer, you probably received an email including a link to your favorite songs from last year as a teaser for the 2022 list.

How to access Spotify Wrapped

On a smartphone

Once the Spotify Wrapped lists are made public, you will likely access them via the Spotify app on your smartphone or tablet (Android, iPhone). Simply launch the app, and you’ll see the 2022 Wrapped section staring you in the face – they make it very clear. Simply search for it if it’s not visible.

Once launched, if it’s the same as previous years, turn your volume up and swipe through the Instagram Stories-style shareable “cards” that detail all your algorithm-based top songs, artists, podcasts, listening stats, what you binged, and more, as well as some of the stuff you may have missed throughout the year in the Missed Hits section, which includes a selection of 30 songs the algorithm thinks you might like.

Spotify has launched a new “Listening Personality” feature in 2022 that utilizes your listening habits to classify you into one of sixteen “personalities,” including The Specialist, The Adventurer, The Fanclubber, and The Replayer. There is also a feature called “Audio Day” that illustrates how your listening choices change throughout the day.

After going through the Wrapped 2022 cards presentation, you’ll have access to a seemingly endless number of unique playlists on the app, as well as some cool additional features, such as last year’s Your Artists Revealed section, which includes songs and interviews with your favorite artists, and the Blend feature, where you can invite another user to combine your best-of-the-year playlists, the good and the bad, into one 2022 playlist for both of you.

Web browser or desktop app

Even if you are not a Spotify subscriber, you may still visit the Spotify Wrapped website to view broader statistics and best-of content for a country. However, you will not be able to view the interesting “cards” presentation that scrolls horizontally. If you are a Spotify subscriber, you may log in using the credentials for your Spotify Premium account and view your 2022 favorites.

If you access the service using the Spotify desktop application on your computer, the card display is also unavailable. We will have to wait until 2022 to determine whether this will change. Nonetheless, you will continue to have access to the Wrapped 2022 playlists, groups, podcasts, genres, and much more that you can share on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok.
